One question each, answered first and then explained step by step.
What do Allow and watch, Ask and Lockdown do in Tattle?
The mode decides only what happens to a connection that no rule covers. Allow and watch lets it through and lists it; Ask asks you; Lockdown blocks it. Your rules always come first, whatever the mode.
Which rule wins when several Tattle rules match a connection?
The most specific rule that matches wins. If two are equally specific, your own rules beat blocklist entries, and block beats allow. If no rule matches, the mode decides. Block All overrides everything.
How do I send my Mac’s DNS lookups to an encrypted resolver with Tattle?
In Tattle’s Settings › DNS, choose Tattle’s DNS proxy, pick a resolver (a preset, a personal-profile service with your own ID, or any DNS-over-HTTPS or DNS-over-TLS address) and apply it. Lookups then go through Tattle, encrypted, and appear in the main window’s DNS section. DNS is off until you do this.
What does Tattle’s AI assistant send, and to whom?
Nothing, until you turn it on. Once you pick a provider, the assistant sends only connection details (app names and signing identifiers, host names, addresses, ports, protocols, directions, verdicts, byte counts, times and rule summaries) to that provider, and for any provider off your Mac it shows you exactly what will be sent first.
How do I install and activate Tattle on my Mac?
Download the disk image from this site, drag Tattle to your Applications folder and open it. It works fully during the free trial; to keep using it, buy a license under Plans and enter the key in the app. Activating needs an internet connection once.
