How do I install and activate Tattle on my Mac?

Download the disk image from this site, drag Tattle to your Applications folder and open it. It works fully during the free trial; to keep using it, buy a license under Plans and enter the key in the app. Activating needs an internet connection once.

Tattle isn’t out yet: the download button on the home page starts working on release day.

What you need

A Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 26 or later.

Installing

Open the downloaded disk image and drag Tattle to the Applications folder, then open it from Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without warnings.

Once the Homebrew cask is published, the docs page shows the install command. It installs the same disk image.

The first time, a short setup walkthrough installs the app’s network extension, and macOS asks you to approve it in System Settings › General › Login Items & Extensions. The app must be in your Applications folder for macOS to accept it. The walkthrough then sets the starting mode, opening at login, encrypted DNS and the look. The docs walk through it.

Activating

Enter your license key in the app. Keys look like TAT-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX; capitals and dashes are optional. Activating needs an internet connection; after that the license is checked on your Mac.

Moving to a new Mac? Deactivate the old one in the app or on the account page, then activate the new one with the same key.
